Australia’s largest Atlantic salmon producer, Tassal, has launched a brand new hot smoked salmon product to the market.

Tassal’s Hot Smoked Salmon Flakes is a convenient and easy-to-use alternative to the traditional consumer favourite cold smoked salmon; it is ready to eat and quick to prepare for recipes like salads, risotto and pasta.

Hot smoked salmon offers a different taste sensation to cold smoked salmon. Whereas cold smoking does not cook the fish and results in a more delicate texture, Tassal has developed its unique hot smoking process to give a more robust, cooked quality to the salmon.

The new Hot Smoked Salmon Flakes come in natural flavour, with subtle woody notes, and retain all the original goodness that makes salmon one of nature’s superfoods. Salmon is full of Omega-3, protein, vitamins A, D, E, B-carotene, minerals, zinc, iron, copper, manganese, selenium, calcium, phosphorus and potassium.

Tassal spokesperson Caroline Hounsell said the new product offers consumers versatile options to expand their meal repertoire.

“Tasmanian salmon is incredibly versatile and the addition of hot smoked flakes to the market makes salmon the perfect choice for even more meals. The flakes are pre-prepared and ready to be tossed into a salad or stirred through pasta for great everyday eating,” said Caroline.

Tassal is committed to producing environmentally responsible and healthy seafood. As such, it has recently entered into a partnership with WWF-Australia. The partnership will help Tassal achieve the highest global standard for responsibly produced seafood.

Tassal Hot Smoked Salmon Flakes are available in Coles from October 2012.
