Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)
BAP is a comprehensive third-party aquaculture certification program that covers environmental and social responsibility, animal welfare, food safety and traceability in a voluntary certification program for aquaculture facilities. The BAP program is the only aquaculture certification program that encompasses the entire production chain, from hatcheries and feed mills to farms and processing plants. The BAP program was established in 2002 by the non-profit the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) to encourage the use of responsible aquaculture practices for a variety of species, including salmon.
Tassal gained BAP certification across farming regions in 2019.
