Tassal Recognised as Respected Industry Leader
Tassal has been recognised in a national survey published in BRW as the Most Respected Industry Leader in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector in the country. The study to rank Australia’s most respected companies was conducted by global management consulting company Hay Group for BRW. Hay Group received responses to an online survey from businesses across 20 industries.
Participants were asked to nominate organisations they respected across all industries and to rate them using five criteria, ranging from the ability to respond to economic change to corporate social responsibility. Participants are also asked to nominate and rate organisations they most respect within their own industry for Hay Group to develop BRW’s Most Respected Industry Leader list.
Tassal employs 697 people, is the largest aquaculture company in Australia and is a public company listed on the ASX. The company is also a fully integrated producer of premium quality Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon, operating hatcheries, marine farms, processing facilities, value-adding plant and a sales and marketing division for Australian and international markets.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mark Ryan said Tassal understood that in the 21st century it was not enough for a company to just be profitable.
“Investors, our customers and the broader community expect companies like Tassal to be socially and environmentally responsible,” he said.
“We have put in place systems to meet and exceed these expectations.“While we still have some work to do, the important work we have already done in this area is clearly being recognised, with the results of the BRW survey testimony to that effort.”
