Tassal invests in community partnerships that deliver a clear local benefit and strengthen the relationships, trust and resilience of the communities connected to our operations.

Priority is given to initiatives that support communities connected to our sites, workforce and long-term presence in Tasmania, North Queensland and Western Australia.

What we consider

We assess each request based on the community benefit it will deliver and why Tassal is an appropriate partner.

We consider:

Community value
A clear and evidenced benefit for people, community organisations or the local environment.

Relationship value
Strengthens an important relationship with communities, councils, schools, Traditional Owners or regional organisations.

Trust and local contribution
Demonstrates that Tassal listens, contributes locally and follows through on its commitments.

Operational connection
Supports a community connected to a Tassal site, workforce, priority project or locally identified issue.

Engagement value
Creates meaningful opportunities for Tassal employees and community members to meet, participate and build understanding.

Informed dialogue and understanding
Supports constructive conversations and helps communities better understand Tassal, aquaculture and the seafood industry while maintaining the independence of the organisation.

Applications are also assessed against the organisation’s capability, governance, proposed outcomes, value for money and other funding contributions.

Meeting the assessment criteria does not guarantee funding. All decisions remain subject to available budget, appropriate approvals and any required due diligence.

What your application should explain

Please provide clear information about:

  • the local need or opportunity your initiative addresses;
  • how that need or opportunity was identified;
  • who will benefit and approximately how many people will be involved;
  • what Tassal’s funding will specifically pay for;
  • the total project cost and other confirmed cash or in-kind support;
  • the outcomes you expect to achieve;
  • how you will measure and report those outcomes;
  • why Tassal is an appropriate partner;
  • any involvement requested from Tassal employees or representatives;
  • any previous Tassal support and what it achieved; and
  • recognition opportunities such as signage, logo placement and social media acknowledgement.

Important information

  • Applications are reviewed monthly.
  • Please submit your application at least 30 days before a decision is required.
  • Tassal does not provide sponsorship for individuals, travel or accommodation.
  • Funding cannot generally be provided for costs already incurred.
  • Additional information or due diligence may be required before a decision is made.
  • Successful recipients must agree to proportionate reporting on how the support was used and what it achieved.
  • Multi-year support is reviewed annually and is not automatically renewed.
