Our operations are varied at Tassal, we farm three species of fish. We are very proud that the entire process is done in-house at Tassal, from breeding and growing fish, all the way to processing the product for delivery to your local supermarket!

We have 5 salmon farming zones in Tasmania where we farm our delicious salmon in ocean pens. These are in Margate, Dover, Strahan, Okehampton and Nubeena.
Roles in TAS farming include Farm Attendants, Divers, Wildlife Officers, Electrical Engineers, Marine Engineers, Netcleaners, Team Leaders, Feed Technicians, Maintenance Officers, Harvesters, Deckhands, First Mates, Skippers and Animal Health Technicians.
In QLD we farm our prawns on the land in over 260 1.3 hectare ponds. From the beauty of the Whitsundays at our Proserpine site to our Mission Beach farm on the Cassowary Coast, our farms couldn’t be in better locations!
Farming roles in QLD include Electricians, Diesel Fitters, Senior Technicians, Paddlewheel Technicians, Pond Operation Technicians, Truck Drivers, Harvest Operators, Water Quality Technicians, Wildlife Officers, Prawn Health Technicians and Feed Technicians.
In WA we have our Cone Bay barra farm. Cone Bay is an island in the beautiful Buccaneer Archipalego in Northern Western Australia.
Staff stay on the island for 1-4 weeks dependent on the role, enjoying an onsite gym, all meals provided and the beauty that the island offers.
Roles on the island include Marine Engineers, First Mates, Deckhands, Skippers, Divers, Farm Attendants, Maintenance Officers, Netcleaners, Camp Cook & Cleaner and Feed Technicians.

Our Hatcheries & Nurseries are where we breed and grow our product. Our Prawn Hatcheries are based in Proserpine & Mission Beach- including an exciting Specific Pathogen Free Hatchery leading the way in Prawn breeding science! We have two Hatcheries in Tasmania in beautiful Russell Falls & Rookwood where our salmon is grown until they are ready to go out to our sea pens and we have our Barramundi Nursery in Broome.
Careers in Hatcheries are varied, offering a mix of manual labour, scientific and management positions.
Our Processing sites are located across Tasmania, QLD & NSW. In Mission Beach & Proserpine in QLD, we process our Aussie Tiger Prawns, straight from the farm. In Dover, Margate & Huonville in Tasmania, we have our salmon being processed straight from the sea pens. Also in Tasmania is our rendering plant in Triabunna. And finally, we have our Lidcombe processing site where we process salmon, prawns and barra and have our Value Added operations.
Whilst a Processing Attendant is the most common role in our Processing sites, that doesn’t mean that’s the only role available in Processing. We have a broad range of teams, including Dispatch who work to get all of our orders out on time, Maintenance Electricians and Fitters that keep our factories running, Cleaning teams making sure our sites are safe and hygienic every day, Planners who ensure we process the right product at the right time and lots more!
